Event Updates: AFA - The Marble Collection

The Marble Collection – fashion story to unfold in Singapore for the first time

Marble Collection, an extravaganza that integrates fashion, theatrical performance, dance and more into one production, will showcase distinctive styles from the shopping meccas of Harajuku, Shibuya and Akihabara. Brought direct from Japan and produced by the team that put together the famous Tokyo Girls Collection, The Marble Collection is set to dazzle and entertain audiences in Singapore and the region. The unique fashion culture show production is known to be genre-less, and is directed by Junya Yamada, the No.1 director in Asia from DRUMCAN Inc. (http://www.drumcan.com/). He is behind numerous shows for popular Japanese street fashion brands, including the TOKYO GIRLS COLLECTION, and the Uniqlo fashion show launch in Singapore in 2009.
Held in Singapore for the first time, the show will feature “Akihabara” fashion style for the first time, specially developed for Anime Festival Asia 2012, to match the festival’s anime-related content. Up to 9 influential fashion models, including Tenchimu and Shiina Hikari, will be flown from Japan to perform and showcase the styles here. The performance in Singapore will include local fashion bloggers as well.  Details on the show are available in the Annex.
For fashion enthusiasts who can’t get enough of the Marble Collection, select apparels and products such as PRISILA Wigs will be available for purchase at the Marble booth at festival grounds.
"Japanese popular culture has many facets to offer.  With Anime Festival Asia, we strive to grow our festival offering every year, bringing to our audiences in Asia the latest trends and insights direct from Japan.  We've identified Japanese fashion as a key component for AFA's content growth strategy, and partnered Japanese fashion industry leader Twin Planet to showcase world renowned "KAWAII" fashion concepts, such as Harajuku and Shibuya styles.  Audiences will see, for the first time ever, models and fashion icons direct from Japan showcasing the latest in Japanese fashion in a hybrid show of fashion catwalks, performances and many more," said Shawn Chin, Anime Festival Asia's Festival Director.
Local fashion bloggers and dancers who are interested to be part of this production may visit www.bgirlscafe.com for more information or to register for the audition.
